Mac Jones Carries On Patriots' Success As Future At Quarterback

Legendary quarterback Tom Brady departed New England after the 2019 season and left huge shoes to fill for any quarterback that would follow.

The Patriots decided to roll with a rookie in 2021 and took Mac Jones with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. At the time, many questioned the selection, but Jones quickly proved that he was ready for the big stage.

The Patriots finished the 2021 regular season with a 10-7 record, which was good enough to win the AFC East Division but not enough to host a playoff game.

Jones led the Patriots to a Wild Card playoff win over the Buffalo Bills, a team that had won the AFC East the previous two seasons.

The win over the Bills was a huge statement for Jones and the Patriots as it showed that they could compete with the best teams in the NFL.

This past season, Jones proved that the early success wasn't a fluke. The Patriots finished with a 12-5 record, and Jones led the NFL in completion percentage.

He also threw for 3,213 yards, 22 touchdowns, and just 13 interceptions. More importantly, Jones led the Patriots to a division title and a playoff berth.

The Patriots were eliminated from the playoffs by the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wild Card round, but Jones played well in the loss.

Despite the playoff loss, Jones has shown that he has what it takes to be a franchise quarterback in the NFL.

He is accurate, smart, and tough. He also has the intangibles that you look for in a leader.

With Jones at quarterback, the Patriots are in good hands for the future.
