Romper Sewing Pattern Free Baby

Romper Sewing Pattern Free Baby

Introduction

If you're looking for a fun and easy way to make a romper for your little one, look no further! This free sewing pattern is perfect for beginners and experienced sewers alike. The romper is made from lightweight cotton fabric, making it perfect for summer. It features a simple bodice with a gathered skirt, and it's finished with a snap closure at the shoulders.

Materials

  • 1/2 yard of lightweight cotton fabric
  • 1/4 yard of lightweight fusible interfacing
  • 1/2 yard of 1/2-inch wide elastic
  • 1/4 yard of 1/4-inch wide ribbon
  • Matching thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Fabric marker or chalk
  • Safety pin

Instructions

  1. Print out the pattern pieces and cut them out. Fusible interfacing to the wrong side of the bodice pieces.
  2. Sew the shoulder seams of the bodice together. Finish the raw edges with a serger or zigzag stitch.
  3. Gather the top edge of the skirt. To do this, stitch two rows of gathering stitches around the edge of the fabric, 1/4 inch apart. Pull the threads to gather the fabric until it is the same width as the bodice.
  4. Pin the skirt to the bodice, right sides together. Sew the two pieces together, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Finish the raw edges with a serger or zigzag stitch.
  5. Turn the romper right side out and press. Topstitch around the neckline and armholes, 1/4 inch from the edge.
  6. Fold the elastic in half and insert it into the casing at the waist. Sew the ends of the elastic together.
  7. Thread the ribbon through the casing at the neckline. Tie the ends of the ribbon into a bow.

Conclusion

That's it! You've now made a romper for your little one. This is a great beginner sewing project, and it's a fun way to use up some of your scrap fabric.
